Did get a chance to watch Jodha on the release weekend. It was running house full on Saturday in Manhattan, all shows. We managed to get tickets online. Kavi was ecstatic. Needless to say, she loved the movie, but she kept saying, "Oh Gawd! Aishwarya, moti lag rahi hai" whenever she came on the screen. But that was no spolier for her.

As for me, the movie was visually very beautiful, the colours, sets, jewellery, etc. It makes up for the lackluster story line; which is nothing new, same old hindi movie in a different era with a feelgood touch in the end where everything works out for the best. You can somehow manage to sit through the 3 and 1/2 hours.

Sometimes going to these type of movies seem like making up for all those times when you hog up all the TV time on weekends watching football or baseball when there is a great cooking show on a different channel. I think with this I have made up for all of last season.

My runrate on movie watching has slowed down considerably in recent times since my beloved laptop underwent timely demise. On same lines, I have now become much more prudent in picking up the "right" movies over the time as now I have to move my lazy self to a multiplex for a flick.

However, I made sure that I didn't miss the "once in a year show" of Amir. Honestly, I was blown by Ghazni; not by the story, not by the songs, not by the promotional activities - but truly by the professionalism of Amir, his dedication to acting, his performance and yeah, Asin! The movie is just another masala bollywood movie - inspired by the Hollywood movie Memento, but promises a power packed performance along with good tracks. So, watch this movie for Amir, Asin and genuinely good direction of Murugadas.

Next, I was lucky to come home early an evening and find "Taare Zameen Pe" being screened on Zee cine - a movie I had unfortunately missed so far. Must admit that TZP is another of those rare movies which truly touches your heart. Amir is a good actor and more so, an actor who enriches our Cine experience. Watching his flicks not only entertain us, but also compel us to think different and think constructive. He makes a difference to so many by picking up projects that are different and makes the one year gap for his movies worth the wait! Child actor Darsheel has given a powerful performance and is quite professional in front of the camera. Last but not the least, our Anirudh (Garbyal) da has been amazing behind the camera, like all his earlier projects. Kudos!!

nice to see that mayank is catching up on his movie yatra and back to rungmung as well..

this has prompted me to talk about " A Wednesday"!! This movie was nominated in many categries for recent star screen awards but as our movie industry is market driven so are awards..So good old story of special mentions was reserved for this movie while Rithik Roshan etc. walked away with most of the awards.

I had read much about the movie and as the DVD played on there was not much of that gripping thrill about the movie but as the time passes (races actually) on movie seriusly starts growin in your mind.

Without spoiling the twists of the tale... I must say that after Rang De Basanti this has been one movie to wake me from my slumber. This movie is watchable atleast for Naseeruddin Shah's monologue towards the end of the movie!!

Did watch Gazhini also .. i think after TZP it is hard act to follow but AK doesnt dissappoint us ( a tad run of the mill though )

truely- grounded reality, touching story that stirred my thoughts and heart wat lies in this world ..........appaled with this movie . though showing poor-hurted-cheating- neglected-hating people , ruined lifes within whom some comes out to be disfigure and clear the polluted world's with the cherished dreams and love winning over hatred and as destined to be made for happiness.

really this movie made my day the best, when i required the most on the eve of new year 31 dec .............
a must watch and a sure oscar winner

Got to see Kaminey on Monday night as multiplexes and halls in Mumbai were closed on Fri-Sunday due to the Swine Flu scare, and the wait was worth the watch.

Kaminey is an exceptionally well made movie and belongs to a different league (hats off to Vishal Bhardwaj for always giving the audience something different - Makdee, Blue Umbrella, Omkara, Maqbool & now Kaminey). The film seems to be inspired from Tarantino's work (& from Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels) and leaves the audiance spellbound! Powerful performance from Shahid & Priyanka go very well with the brilliantly written script. Editing and catchy soundtrack add cherry to the cake! Verdict: 4/5

Love Aajkal. Loved the movie for its simplicity and for the Brazilian actress (Whoa... her expressions were better than many present day Bollywood actresses)!! Deepika was a bit disappointing on the acting front, however, rest of the cast played their parts to perfection. A sweet movie. Verdict: 3/5

yeah .. i have been waiting for kameeney .. but cinema halls in dehradun require a lot of courage for stepping in

hopefully after this review i just might muster enough courage to watch this in dehradun
