RANG DE BASANTI -II

Been a week or so since i last blogged anywhere... and seems like a longtime ago already. i had read, heard and seen so much about Rang De Basanti( RDB ) that i was dying to see it.Finally there came a decent pirated print in Dhaka and i just couldnt hold myself back. i was dead beat after the recent weeks' hectic schedule, head was throbbing but i had to see it somehow and so i did. i think there have been very few movies in our times which are generation defining movies. i can recall Hyderabad Blues, Dil Chahta Hai among a few others maybe with Swades also in this set. Rang De Basanti i think would be really remembered for a long time to come as another generation defining movie. it is almost a sequel to Dil chahta Hai in someway. If DCH was a movie where careless youth finds its soul in the arms of love or atleast in the relaization of it, RDB goes a step beyond, beyond the self. i was watching with 2 south indian friends who in a way were not aware of many of the details of the indian freedom struggle specially in up north. i was trying to explain to them about Jaliwanwala bagh and General Dire's act of cowardice in firing upon innocent people there. I didnt know that it would be such an emotional thing for me, as i was explaining i could feel a lump in my throat and eyes were getting moist all of a sudden. I sat there for a long time with thoughts racing thru my mind after the movie was over. the thing that resonates with all of us today is when one of the characters says something to the effect that " i never knew that there would be something that would jolt us to the point of action someday". i guess we all are also in the same situation, a generation in status quo. Kuchh kar gujarane ko jee chahta hai... Aey Khuda, kuchh kar gujarane ki taqdeer de... Manjilen na sahee... manjilon ki khwahish de...

Finally….. we are one step closer to realizing our dream…..that is Jhyangmothon – 2006.We had a video shoot for Jhyangmothon this Sunday at Jazz Studio in Delhi …. thanx to Jeewan Da for squeezing time out of his busy schedule for this cause …. we had 8 volunteers for this show … Akash Rapya, Gaggu Hyanki, Pooja Patiyal, Babi Nabiyal, Pramod Nangyal n few youngsters….Behind the scene was Jeewan Da n Prakash Nabiyal… First Shoot was just to show intensity on the face n gaze at the camera for 20 secs … Seems so easy but it was tough for almost all of us to do the job ….concentrating eyes at the camera for 20 secs was too hectic …n in between many funny things happened like guys twisting their tongue , blinking eyes, showing close up teeth, laughing btw the recording … no one was far behind making fun of others… Jeewan da was seen askin ppl not to make make noise n stop makin fun of others ...Finally for audio rec. each one of us was given a punchline…. At one point…. my dear fren Pooja was to deliver a dialogue ..it was like AAO…. CHALE….. DAUDE ….with “raring to go” attitude on the face but every time she did .. it was like she’s narrating poem …..we cudn’t stop laughing …finally we changed her dialogue to “ 7 April ..Dharchula Me ….” Just like u c in late night crime shows showing finger n saying “Agar Chain Se Soona Hai To Jag Jao…. “ this time she did her job flawlessly …. Well... few things yet to be done bfore we c it ov tv …..post editing work is yet to be done …n I’ve already send route map n logo to Jeewan Da …Thanx to Amit for sending me the route map in no time…… Once Again My Sincere Thanx To Jeewan Da For His Patience & Kind Efforts… Shooting was fun ….but im sure video ad.’s gonna be lot more funnier ..:) :):):)

just got over watching oscars.. this was the first time I watched the whole show.. especially because john stewart was hosting it.. not bad at all.. out of all the movies crash was the only movie i had seen and surprisingly it won the best picture.. i think the producers themselves were shocked to their wits when they announced it.. a bit on project Nauksum.. have managed to add a dictionary, a flash mp3 player, events section, a new forum, and couple of tits and bits... we might have to ask our users to re-register for the new system or we can import the user database from the genealogy(that would be a pain though)... registeration would again be strictly only rung and some special circumstances (mom, grandmom rungshya, etc...) was also thinking that to register a person would have to send us their genealogy data so that we can move ahead with the genealogy section as well.. no genealogy data no access... this would also help us track who is who.. (people might use phoney rung names to just get into the site).. also if we could make registeration through referrals.. on the basis of invitations (like gmail has..) it might be a little confusing.. but just a thought.. let me know what you guys think.. I think the photos database still needs some work as some of the pics are not available.. if you dont see your pics dont worry they will be back.. :) and would also like to apologize on messing up on the number of views on one of the albums on the photos section.. it got reset by mistake to zero.. thank god the comments are still there though :) (not that they matter... ;) ) still waiting for responses on what sections should be private and what should be public... guys this is the time to speak up or you will have to live with what becomes of some of the sections later... peace..

How is the Hamster doing

Hamster!! Well this is the mascot of my senior design project team. The mood of the hamster depicts the mood of the team. This week has been a real busy one. Must say Real Busy!! How can I imagine not having watched a single bollywood movies this week. Moreover, I haven't seen Namita in the last 48 hrs. I guess its gonna be another day before I get to see her. When I am home late night or early morning she is asleep and when she leaves in the morning, I am asleep. Yes! the schedules have been tight. This semester I can feel the burden of being a senior and all the load comes up at one time. I am getting the feel of my final year. This week Proffessors have been throwing at us so many reports, labs and test, i felt like Bush bombing Iraq or Osama declaring jihad. But at the moment I feel good. Having finished a 25 page report makes me feel proud. But i still got more to do. Any guesses, yeah, one more report to do. And guess what I have a test in a few minutes for which i have no clue! Anyways all i got to say now is (though irrevelant here) RungMung Rockss!! Take it easy...Its Spring time Baby!

Saving Nauksum..

The above title was first used in an online article by Christina, an American lady who went to Darma to study about Darmani language.. and I think it fits appropriately to mine as well.. thanks Christina.. Its great to see that Jooni has become one of our most active sections on Rung Mung.. I sincerely hope it had topped pictures as well.. even though it is little far-fetched, I think we need more of constructive energy to float around Rung Mung rather than those anon uncouth comments or opinions... Rung Mung started with a lot of zeal and plethora of promises (from others) but unfortunately the group that initiated the project has become dormant.. we don’t know how many people read those group emails anymore.. or do those mails ever make into their inboxes past their junk folders… so I have decided to post entries concerning the site in the Jooni so we could get better response from the dedicated few that do read stuff on Rung Mung other than just browse through pictures… I know we have others that do unfailingly visit the site on a daily basis in their busy hours… the site statistics have doubled over the past six months… and we are truly grateful for the appreciation... I realize so far we have failed to take Rung Mung to the directions it was initially started with.. more of about our places and traditions.. instead it has become more of user oriented community site driven by user inputs and contents… and I think its an achievement in its own right.. how many of us think that we could have known so many other rungs otherwise.. chat was down for couple of days and I got enough requests to put it back even though it was simply for plain time pass and habitual interaction.. hope one of us will get inspired some day and will have time to work on those missing articles and contents that Rung Mung needs… Coming to Nauksum.. as I have already given a little intro on Nauksum (it’s the code name for our new interface) on Kanak’s Jooni, we hope to centralize the user database for the whole site… it would help us get rid of the anons and ultimately benefit the end user.. the users would be able to connect to each other (something like Hi5, orkut), have more control on sections like news, events, pictures, etc… and so far its coming out fine and some of those that have seen it are excited about it…. this might take a few weeks or even few months but it will be done depending on the amount of time we can devote apart from our busy schedules.. and as the name suggests its about Saving our Nauksum even when its just being online… I hope anons get the message.. Oh yes.. before I forget we have couple of new moderators for our picture section.. Bhumika Garbyal, Smriti Tinkari, Kailash Bohra and Namita Bohra.. thanks guys.. I know this has become longer than a normal entry.. I hope you did make it this far reading it.. got so much to write about but I think I better not… at least not today.. hope to keep my entries about the site regular… Peace..

Corn and Asparagus....

I have been out of the blogging scene for quite some time now.. reason being I havent been cooking these days.. (just kidding).. perhaps it was more of lack of time and other regular mundane stuff that keeps you rolling all day long... but the truth is I have been avoiding eating all the junk I used to earlier.. some of those ready made palak paneer, rajma masala, chicken tikka, etc.. (I did love them though.. ) instead I thought of switching over to eating healthy.. (I did make that sort of my new year's resolution.. have never made any resolutions before though..) tonite I have some regular spinach salad with asparagus, carrots and corn along with some wheat bread... sounds interesting haa... but wait, I didnt realize eating healthy could be so expensive... my this weeks grocery amounted to quite a significant bit.. no wonder those desi ready made stuff is so popular.. you know how desis are on expenditure.. my roomie gets worried if something is even 25 cents more than what he thought it was last week or yesterday... sometimes I think its fair enough as we are living on credit cards these days... but sometimes I just give a shrug and say what the hell you live just once... hope I will be able to continue eating better and stay away for those enticing chole bhature, etc... P.S. : Dont worry I havent become a vegan.. No, not yet!! :)

I must say …m very fortunate that Gabla Sae thomo happened jst after a day I landed dharchula …experienced the joy of going at the roof top, tying dhaza on the fresh daali paat & Finally Tung zung Daamo ….. which I missed since so many years …nearly 8 years … OFFERING TUNGZUNG AT ROOF-TOP The sound of Tung Zung makes u feel divine …. Tung means vessel on which u hit the Zung means hitting tool (knife)….i came to know abt the word “Tung Zung” during this strip to dharchula ….after that we (Garbyal Families) went to Gabla Sathaan..Amid the musical sound of Dhame ..n Lama chanting the name of gods n sound of TungZung brings within you the feeling of being in the holy place, energized n one can truly feel the presence of divine god on occasions like these ….. TUNG & ZUNG “GabLa Syang Sae Thoyengnye ……aye jya yin raayen ri thooyengne” I don’t remember how many times I sang this song when I was young …..its been ages since I was part this group…. goin places to places for Bhaay Lo….. Gone r the days when somebody offered us Rs 10 (that too nepali) n it was like…..”kushi ka koi thikana nahi rehta tha ….”I Rem that song “kathmandu ko saahar …aye rupya se mule laha re ….”ppl were forced to loosen their pockets to add more if boys feel that Bhay-Lo amount is less ……once a man offered to give 50 paise / dance performance by individual ..we were abt 10 boys n gals in a group .. n each one of us did perform n we got a handsome Rs 5 nepali from that fella….phew ..what a hard earned money ….Sabke Khoon to nahi but Pasine ki kamie zaroor thi …… SCENE FROM GABLA SATHAAN Bhay-Lo is also memorable to me coz this was the platform on which I made my first public dance appearance …:)the song “ek do teen chaar paach che saat aath nau” (i.e 1-2-3 -4-5-6-7-8-9) was sang by my frens n I was literally forced to dance to the tune of these numbers …(tezab’s item song was very popular those days …) Wonder if my good performances in maths has anything to do with my dance performance ..:) Things have changesd tremendously …..elders used to go for Bhaylo with Damae ….with much fanfare …but this time I found our elders just going with the register house to house n noting down the amount given n all is over with in few hrs…may be they ‘ve a reason to do so .. Now even young kids (below 15 years old) won’t leave u unless u shell out not less than Rs 100 from ur pocket….. n these beautifulful RungLo songs r completely replaced by cassette players …just put on the music n dance to the tune of hindi n nepali hits …. SO PITY ….!!!!!! But who’s to be blamed ….???? It’s A Question ……….Worth A Thought …..!!!!!!
