finally i am back again to world of bits (and pieces). this trip home was a reality check for me. so many months away from home and our people, so much time in the concrete jungles, in the world of polluted air, in the world of electricity, hot water, television and western style toilet seats; one does tend to take things for granted. few days of biting cold, fresh air and warmth of family, set the perspective back to normal. so much so that when i had to go to Dwarika in Delhi to meet rungmung gathered at Pushkar Singh Kutiyal ji's house-warming, the overpowering images of concrete monolith all around me made me nauseous.
this trip was so hectic that i think everyday was either packed for poojas or traveling. i had thought i would some work by meeting people during the trip and sadly i would need to make one more trip i guess for that.
despite all this did manage to get sound bites from one small singing session back in the village and some photos as well. in Delhi i did meet the young guns like paritosh, dino, yogesh in person ( a few for the first time).
now i am back to work... have loads mails to go thru... will come back later with more updates and comments... :)

New Jersey would be my new home for couple of months.. Got here this afternoon.. journey wasnt all that bad... 6 hours from Boston... I am here to join a consultancy company that will train me for a few weeks and then market me for various projects available.. have a new room mate from south India.. He is pretty cool and easy going.. we should get along fine... accommodations are better than expected and the good thing is we have a broadband connection at the apartment so I should be able to do my Rung Mung duties on a regular basis.. went out to explore the place... my roomie has a car so it was pretty easy.. looks like this area Plainsboro in New Jersey is fested with Indian and Chinese community alike.. a whole lot of Indian restaurents and stores in the vicinity... crown india, Masala grill, etc.. went out to check out one of the places.. Flavor of India..
It was Dinner buffet.. we were the only ones there.. so didnt knew if the food was leftover from lunch or fresh.. any way had some... even though the place looked exotic and lavish food was mediocre... might not go back again...
Feeling a little lonely.. i think it will get better from tomorrow.... i think i will hit the bed now.. its been long since i slept at 11.00.. its too early for me..
ciao..

1st Nov. diwali night MAHALAKSHMI, everyone was busy with boodum-2 and enjoying with frnds ,relatives etc being a part of diwali but we were travelling in the train, to attend the IIT Kanpur Sports Meet 2005. I was missing the diwali dhoom-dharhaka. But we were very happy because that was like a picnic for us,no rules ,no fall-in,no PT,no officer,no warden.Getting prizes was not that important but getting out of the college was very important. But ultimately we went there to bring the prizes.
2nd Nov. was free for us becz sports meet had started on 3rd nov.
I went there as a athlete but i am also crazy about football but i did not play there because chances of getting a medal as an athlete were more than football. My events were 200mtrs,400mtrs and 800mtrs races. But my batchmate (captain of team Vikram Arora)gave my name as a javel-in thrower also ,i am not a very good thrower.
According to schedule, on 5th Nov. i decided to run 800 and 400mtrs races (left 200 for other batch mate, as it could have been tiring attending 3 events on a same day) and i won gold medal(both).
Next day javel-in throw event was there and i was there to throw javel-in, my junior(3rd yr gaurav mishra (is a very good thrower) )was also taking part and i was there just to take part, and i did not throw javel-in seriously. And finally i left the field, after my 6th throw and went to watch basket ball match. After some time gaurav came to me and said "sir aapka to silver medal hai" i was surprised and i asked about him . He won gold medal.
Finally we got 76 medals (athletics and games) and came back to college.

finally this mroning i corssed over from the deserted looking dhaka to hustle bustle of grand old city of Kolkata. Dhaka gets this deserted look every Eid when people actually become eid ka chaand :) all migrant workers and people from all walks of life make their way to ancestral villages to celeberate eid with loveed ones. Trains, buses , boats ( called launches there) become virtually overlfowing bouquet of human beings.
i also felt as if i was one of them while leaving dhaka this morning. i landed at about 11 am in Kolkata and my Delhi flight would be 7.20 pm. so i spent better part of the day exploring kolkata swanky new mall in salt lake area and then went to park street. i was hunting for this rarely available(discovered that today only) XD memory card for digital camera. took me good 4 hours to find it. Finally feeling a bit like holiday ...sitting in sahara lounge ( beautifully done decor ) and blogging ... :)
there she announced my boarding...
see u folks after 10 days or so.... ( if i get net connection maybe before that )
