It's all about Chemistry..

Second Generation Prizewinner figured out complex genes "Transcription" process. Roger D. Kornberg wins a Nobel Prize for Chemistry. For the Kornbergs, it's all in genes. His father Arthur Kornberg won the Nobel Prize in medicine in the year 1959, 47 yrs back. Some of the information abt this from a news paper's article. DNA:: Contains the instructions for development, for the construction & maintenance of living organism, but the DNA by itself contains nothing more than information. The DNA alone is silent. Transcription Process:: It is a cross between waltz and wreslting match on the moleculer level and is essencial for organism as simple as yeast and as complex as humans. It allows a cell to select the genes it needs among thousands it does not, and to extract information from them efficiently & accurately. Purpose of work:: To unravel the complexity ultimately to visualise directly the machinery that reads out the genetic information. The central component of the machinery is itself a giant moleculer made up of 30000 atoms. To determine the precise location of those 30000 atoms. So obtain an additional picture of molecule in action, as it reads out the information in DNA. thats all from that article. Okay, Could any one explain the Transcription Process? It would be great for me. I didn't understand clearly. Chemistry is what does matter In my school days, I read an article, according to that a machine can be made to produce fruit by reacting compounds. Example was given, an apple, I recall, Since atmospheric air contains many solid, liquid n gas, in the form of dust, humidity n air respectivly. So principle was, A machine will suck air from atmosphere and produce the product, say, by only using atmosphere we will be getting an apple. Correct it, if something wrong u find.... Now see, hundreds of chemical reactions have been taking place in form of explosion, noise n light, why don't we.. as festival like Deepawali comes once in a year. On the way, does any joke produce NO2 gas for a human being in the form of laugh?? :p Today's SMS joke:: Que::Which is the longest toilet in the world? Ans::Indian Railway Track. We can use it from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. :D Aisi azadi aur kahaan.. :p Did you smell NO2??!! Laugh..laugh n laugh... :) Happy Diwali, celebrate it safe!!

i hope that many of our members and readers wont come back with Dr. Yunus who?? look. But if anyone does that... Dr. Yunus today stands for an idea which has been replicated worldover, its called micro-credit. This is an idea which has gone a long way in efforts to reduce poverty and thus bringing peace in return. It shows that a humble person from humble and poor country can also come up with simple ideas which can make impact worldwide. One may say that Bangladesh remains still poor in majority and maybe the textile industry and others are abel to bring in more money to people of Bangladesh but micro credit essentially was for those people who are considered untouchable by the banking and finance world. It was to bring hope to no hopers. Moreover it should give all of inspiration to believe in our ideas and inspire us to act on them. Here are some links for this news : http://nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/peace/laureates/2006/index.html http://www.pbs.org/opb/thenewheroes/meet/yunus.html http://www.grameenfoundation.org/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grameen_Bank http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Muhammad_Yunus&redirect=no

Wii.. the new age gamer .... this is what was promised by Nintendo, the company which is alongwith Atari, one of the legendary companies in video games business. Mario /Super Mario being their claim to fame in the gaming histroy. For last few years Sony playstattions and Microsoft Xbox had obliterated rest of the competition and this required competition like Wii to come up with something extraordinary and out of the box thinking on the way the gaming is done. For ages gamers i think exrcised the fingers/thumbs and vocal cords at the most. Now Wii brings you the console which will have you play games more intuitively and maybe with use of muscles higher than your wrists :).... Keep you eyes open for the gushing reviews on all TV channels that are showing something or the other on this new console...!!! Wii remote Check out these two links for more Wii official site Wii at Wikipedia

Time to bell the CAT again..

Its that time of year again when young graduates of india try their hands on CAT. Last year Mayank Hyanki had done well and landed himself calls from 5 IIMs. Before this there have been Jitu & Piyush in recent times who had gone thru IIM grind. If I am not wrong one more Garbyal boy had also done his MBA from IIMC ( guys do let me know his name). I think Sangita Garbyal was first rung to pass out from IIM ( IIMB). But the frist person to land admission in IIM was i think Navin da, but he i think decided to drop out to persue civil services ( those were times when liberalisation hadnt opened indian market so much). For those who are preparing for CAT this year i think can take a few more Exams for other management institutes which also offer good campus and placements. MAT (Management Aptitude Test, another all-India common entrance exam ) SNAP (Symbiosis National Aptitude Test, for the institute in Pune) IIFT (entrance test for the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade) IRMA (entrance test for the Institute of Rural Management at Anand) ATMA (the Association of Indian Management Schools' Test for Management Admissions, another all-India exam) XAT (Xavier Labour Relations Institute Admission Test. A good score in the test is your ticket to XLRI, one of the premier B-Schools.) Some helpful articles i had come across while surfing : CAT 2006: A six month strategy May 19 -- July 19 Objective: Familiarise yourself with all CAT sub-sections as well as the variety of questions that feature in each of them. July 20 -- September 19 Objective: Learn various methods to solve each type of question in the shortest possible time. September 20 -- November 18 Objective: Get the best results from your preparation CAT 2006: How to get the edge you need This Page has more articles on CAT strategies Here i think we could do with some voluntary work online from Mayank/Piyush/Jitu to take care of Forum on the site and create topics where if any of the young rungmung who are preparing for CAT can have interaction with them. I remember last year Sandesha had offered to help people in delhi. I am not sure what were the results on that.
