Future brides and grooms, ENGAGEMENT, a promise to marriage! Things keep changing so thoughts do. Recent wedding ceremonies Nov-Dec, 2009 brought me a lot of fun and most attendees like me were not aware of things being brought to that end (?); one thing, crowd of my peer group cared about was how the arrangement for younger lot.

With that a few marriages without DJ system brought up some singing talents in the market. Who cared anyway?  Just pointing to the flaws of peer group of ours doesn’t really work. All of us want to have our share of happiness, a few looking for future happiness and a few for an instant, no? In the mean while, a few shots of love and inter-caste marriages gave us thoughts that that could also be done in a peaceful manner. 

Also, important, it’s an opening to love/inter-caste marriages for peer group of teenagers although there are other set examples already. Generation-X objecting these fixers of love and inter-caste may look into reasons of such happenings. Being a generation-Y, I observed that it might be taking place due to lack of interaction with our own people, culture and place.  Secondly, initiation! Groom party only taking, why not bride party as well, whereas one (Rung) is having bride party initiation from good families of non-Rungs?

So what are the solutions? Firstly, I don’t find anything wrong on choosing such paths, when someone finds that decision of his will make him happy. Secondly, this site of ours and Rung Kalyan Sanstha is doing well at this level of save culture, tradition, language, people.. Well, things can be discussed together (among the group of Gen-X and Gen-Y) tomorrow and someone said “tomorrow never comes”.. :)
