Everyone undergoes some kind of dilemma during his/her lifetime.
Be it Chhangryal/Garbyal, Rung/Walan, Darchula/Dharchula, Nepal/India or what ever.
I came across an article in kantipur, a nepal daily newspaper.
I felt it should be read by all (as it is worth reading).
We are in somewhat a similar condition, as we are in the same shoes.
We do face the same problems as Ram the fictional character of the article "From Okhaldhunga to Oklahoma."
Enjoy and give it a thought.

hey kailash bro.....are u trying to learn from rams' mistake of not going back to nepal long time ago.......seems like u're thinking about it seriously.....having read rams story in USA,i totally agree that all our life we'll be struggling and our credit card bills will never let us rest in peace.......i think i'll go back to chhangru and start going kunchha every year......that would atleast be more satisfying than the crazy life we live outhere..........

yeah.. life is crazy in principle i guess.. i know guys in dharchula also would say the same.
but we all want to go back as emotionally we are baby fed on that not so luxurious but peaceful life. the other fact is that we remember our times mostly as kids and that is more of peaceful life rather than struggling to make ends meet for the whole family in resourceless environment.

Hmmmm...hmmmm....hmmmm...wat the article says is very true but that's just one of the aspects of livin in a foreignland...ofcourse there is and can be no place like home...!!But will the article really have a second part comin soon or is it just an indirect way to reflect the writer's biased attitude towards her home??!!But one gotta accept the vices and virtues of a place if he has chosen to stay in a foreign country and enjoy the facilities offered by it..like all of u have done..Hence it is not a bad thought to ponder over such things but ultimately what u give is what u get..so if u gotta stay in a new place u gotta love it..only then will the place love u too!!

hey Gabs, you didnt get all of the article, there are 2 parts to it, scroll to the bottom of the page of the article. if you read part 1, 2 should be below or vice-versa. there is a link at the bottom of the article, seems you didnt notice the whole webpage.

Ohhh!!...i had nearly missd the second part!!Wow!!this article is also well written..but it's just like one of our comments...biased....only focusin on what an individual thinks!!
Well...well...comin back to the protagonist of the story..Mr. Ram..the grass is always greener on the other side..it still was when Ram was there back home (his young stage..when he had the passion and energy to strive through the fast and challenging way of U.S....not that he din't know bout these questions that he would have to answer for himself in the future but it was his youthful ambition which took over!!) and now the grass is greener in Nepal when he is settled in the US (i mean after workin so hard and creatin a notch for himself....though not a significant one but what is the guarantee for his happiness in Nepal either??!!)I think this is a character who can nevr be happy with what he has...nevr...like most of us!!!! Young tha to bahar achcha laga..ab kya ho gaya...!!Guess it's the old age which is makin him think so..hmm..as a person grows older and weaker he tries to luk for things which make him feel secure and strong..No wonder old age being VERY DEMANDING requires a lot of love and care and pampering from evryone which OFCOURSE CAN BE provided by none but one's own ppl...i.e. so called compatriots..(not very sure bout this one)ofcourse once a foreigner at heart wil always remain a foreigner...but this is something which he should have thought of earlier!! See ..u can't get evrything at one place..so u have to choose which one suits u better...workin and leadin a so called merry and easy life in Nepal...or struggling to get one's way in the U.S...I guess the writer's job was just to show the two options to the young generation ... ofcourse either of them is not a bed of roses..!!But it's a different story that the article was written with a biased pen!!Moreover it's we who have to choose what we gotta do with r lives..seeing all the pros and cons..and what works for us..ya ..somthing that works for a person may not work for the other!! So why conclude that either of stayin in Nepal or stayin in the U.S...is a wrong decision..!!Anyways..nobody knows what the future holds for us and as for the respect from the kith and kin..and fellow coutrymen that too is not a promised deal. There r questions which evryone has to answer for himself...not only at this stage but at all stages of life..it's just that we should choose with r heart and soul and try(this is verrry significant) not to b influenced by what others say...this is when we will have no regrets in life...and if it happens...wow!! Then life will surely become heaven...be it Nepal...India...US..or any other place in the world..To live a good life one should try to reudce the amount of cribbing he does and increase the amount of joy he derives even from tiny..li'l things around him..and ofcourse supress his ego a li'l and learn from his mistakes...I think this wil surely satisfy the Ramprasad in EACH ONE OF US..!!Hope that we get goin from today itself!!

WOW WOW WOW WOWOWOWOWOWOW!
that was some thinking.
yeah i do believe the author has tilted a litle more towards nepal , maybe the author is reflecting its life in this article and penning down his/her goods and bads and the decisions made during the earlier life. author is a well educated person with great qualifications and sure must have put in some real deep thought into it.
i respect your thoughts too. but sure no one is satisfied by what he/she has. Could i say Humans are the most greediest, selfish and ruthless animals. No offence, me included.

what an indepth analysis u've done regarding Rams life bhumika.....and i agree to the points u've made......it's so true that no matter where u r or what u do.....it's solely up to u to derive satisfaction and content out of life.....all u need is the right attitude towards life and should have a motive,a purpose, a driving force which makes life meaningful and all the worthwhile..............

by the way i have heard enough of this heart and soul thing
....what does the heart do but pump blood thru these veins and soul that exists in spiritual treatise of humanity
if u look at all this sometimes as detached observeer ( i mean just for example look at yourself in a detached way ) one feels like a bundle of instincts...moving from one to the other. just reminded me of the diagrams of brownian movement of gas moelcules ( was that right?).
