Off late it looks that Jukebox is really being liked by our rungmung. I have seen that everyone likes the songs .. but we are all content to get them for free ( including me sometimes)
Here is one really eye opening
article by Courtney Love which also gives us an idea how to help artistes.
what i propose is similar to open source software environment. If you like you donate!! so all of you guys let us know if we can kick off some mechanism by which all u listeners can pay what u think is right for the rung artists, against download of songs...and we shall find ways to get this money to artists.. minus some minor expenses ( subject to agreement from artists)
so.. are u guys ready..

talking of simon and garfunkel... there is another beautiful piece of lyrics by them...
it goes ....
--------------------
OLD FRIENDS
Words & music by paul simon
------------------------------
Old friends,
Old friends
Sat on their park bench
Like bookends.
A newspaper blown though the grass
Falls on the round toes
Of the high shoes
Of the old friends.
Old friends,
Winter companions,
The old men
Lost in their overcoats,
Waiting for the sunset.
The sounds of the city,
Sifting through trees,
Settle like dust
On the shoulders
Of the old friends.
Can you imagine us
Years from today,
Sharing a park bench quietly?
How terribly strange
To be seventy.
Old friends,
Memory brushes the same years
Silently sharing the same fears

prompted by the words of wisdom from yogesh's last post...
here are the lyrics of another classic doing rounds in my head....
( another song which took me home was John Denver's Country roads... )
the things i cant do but are mentioned in the song are being a poet, playing the guitar and there is no love yet waiting silently anywhere :)
and the things i dont do is cigarettes :)
Homeward Bound : Paul Simon
------------------------------
I’m sittin’ in the railway station
Got a ticket for my destination
On a tour of one night stands
My suitcase and guitar in hand
And every stop is neatly planned
For a poet and a one man band
Homeward bound
I wish I was
Homeward bound
Home, where my thought’s escaping
Home, where my music’s playing
Home, where my love lies waiting
Silently for me
Everyday’s an endless stream
Of cigarettes and magazines
And each town looks the same to me
The movies and the factories
And every stranger’s face I see
Reminds me that I long to be
Homeward bound
I wish I was
Homeward bound
Home, where my thought’s escaping
Home, where my music’s playing
Home, where my love lies waiting
Silently for me
Tonight I’ll sing my songs again
I’ll play the game and pretend
But all my words come back to me
In shades of mediocrity
Like emptyness in harmony
I need someone to comfort me
Homeward bound
I wish I was
Homeward bound
Home, where my thought’s escaping
Home, where my music’s playing
Home, where my love lies waiting
Silently for me
Silently for me
Silently for me

since i actually lack talents in things creative....
and also hate plagiarism at the same time...
the best i can do is quote others' great works :)
i thought i will just start with sharing some of the things i have liked over the years.
i am not really into heavy metal and stuff like that but this song of led zeppelin is what makes screeching guitars and demonic druming all worth it :) ( in this song it isnt as screeching and as demonic though).(no offence to headbangers...)
i heard this song for the first time in my life in 1988 i guess, that is 17 years after its release ( same year as i was born, 1971)

Led Zeppelin
Stairway To Heaven
There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven.
When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for.
Ooh, ooh, and she's buying a stairway to heaven.
There's a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure
'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings.
In a tree by the brook, there's a songbird who sings,
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it makes me wonder.
There's a feeling I get when I look to the west,
And my spirit is crying for leaving.
In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees,
And the voices of those who stand looking.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it really makes me wonder.
And it's whispered that soon if we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason.
And a new day will dawn for those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter.
If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now,
It's just a spring clean for the May queen.
Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run
There's still time to change the road you're on.
And it makes me wonder.
Your head is humming and it won't go, in case you don't know,
The piper's calling you to join him,
Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow, and did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind.
And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul.
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold.
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last.
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll.
And she's buying a stairway to heaven.
