Came across this ad in dainik jagran e-paper about uttaranchal counselling for amprapali institute in haldwanim and roorkee institute of technology for BE Btech seats. apparently 60 seats in each place are available.
both are shown as AICTE approved institutes. they will take AIEE scores.
registration fee 500 and counselling fee 2000 rs for rungmung.
date of reporting is 5/10/2006
date of counselling 6/10/2006
check details in 30/9/2006 dainik jagran news paper ( maybe others also)

in last couple of months i had heard the sad news of passing away of many elderly rung mung. some are close relatives and some are not.
at the inception of site and also SMS network we had been trying to find ways to share good and bad news both. news is not only for sharing the information but news also enables us to express our solidarity in the hour of need with grieving families or suffering relatives in distant locations.
this is just a suggeston that people can send us obituaries of people they might have known well.
if some photograph etc is also sent along with that it will help. we can discuss and see how that can be presented. it can be even thru genealogy.

after climbing many peaks..
and taming many a slopes...
finally he gets thru the redtapes of indian government
i think in 2005 he has finally got his due by the way of 2 of the highest national awards in the sports field.
i have always known him has Mohan singh hya ITBP wale in my younger days and sometimes when we met him it would be a few anecdotes on skiing. Then he climbed Everest and ever since he became Mohan singh hya everest waale. Unfortunately like many of us i have been away from home and our people so much that somehow never got around to share a long chat with him and only way i got to know about his exploits was thru article in Amtikar last year.
then i googled some information on him last year to discover more about the mountaineers who have made it big from rungmung
Name of the climber : MOHAN SINGH (GUNJYAL)
Individual climber number : 379
Nationality : Indian
Date : 12.05.1992
Route : S Col - SE Ridge
Team Leader : Hukam Singh
Name : Suman Kutiyal
Female climber number ( overall in the world ) : 28
Overall Summitter Number : 487
Date : 16. 05. 1993
Nationality : Indian
Route : S Col - SE Ridge
Team Leader : Bachendri Pal (f)
this information is collected from : http://www.adventurestats.com/tables/
also : our oldest mountaineer Ms. Chandraprabha Aitwal who unfortunately could not complete her summit dream ( same year when bachendri pal made it .. if i remember)
i still remember waiting for the radio news everyday during that year to hear about her....
she is probably first rung to receive Arjuna Award and Padma Sree Award!! and now Mohan Singh Hya has joined ranks with her.
Mohan singh hya's story is inspiring for many reasons and for me special one is that he somehow paved his way up in his field of passion. The ITBP jobs which have been employment source for many rung mung have remained only employment for people and there are not many examples where someone had found within the job, avenues to mix the skill and opportunities to achieve something for himself, organization and his own people.

i was browsing thru site and was reading updates on jhyangmothun
http://www.rungmung.net/RungJyangnee/index.php
i had missed out on a bit of chit chat in comments there.
couple of comments set me off again this is what came out at first .........( after tapping in this rant :) i realized that we have 500 charcters barrier on the comments .. so i thought lets dicuss a bit in here as well )
again a discalimer here is needed i guess that this is loud thinking to share thoughts and maybe get enlightened by your responses in the bargain....
http://www.rungmung.net/RungJyangnee/index.php
-------------------------------------------------------------------
(there was a comment mentioning that we should do something to help poorer rungmung instead of spending huge amount on this jhyangmothun)
as for the relevance of the event and scale of expenditure. i think this event is not extravagance but an investment in future from the point of view of spurring on rung mung.
i dont know as of now better ways to help poor rung mung and i also dont know if any of the doubters are doing anything to help poor rung mung but our efforts should be testimony to our thinking and i hope that they show that we are thinking about community all the time and not of money
jhyangmotthun is not just an exercise to run or something to promote running. it will prove also how rung mung are capable of collaborating on community oriented projects, specially the current generation. this would spur someone to do something more directly useful for poor people.
none of us can do anything alone and we can do a lot more if we work together and not just sit on the fence and doubt.
the efforts on making this website and discussion on yahoogroups are evidence of that.
doubts are welocme but more welcome when doubters contribute to overcome the challenge that doubts throw up.
here everyone's effort and encouragement is needed.
for the person who had raised doubt, it would have been great if there was a suggestion for example ,that from this marathon effort we raise some money to help patch up dilapidated GIC dharchula building which is the only resort for poor people to get education in dharchula ( ofcourse alongwith GGIC).
-------------------------------
here also i would like to mention about the two successful follow-ups on the discussions we had in yahoogroups so far. one was by bonal ji from lucknow and the next follow up was by mayank, komal & pankaj ( all three young engineering students). they have really done a good job of it.
these collaborated efforts should give us opportunity to build a bridge between these rudderless young hopefuls and enlightened rung mung ( in pankaj's words "chhant katinda mung").
i hope we can get something more regular going soon from these efforts.
here i had forgotten to mention archana budiyal's name :) ( sorry archana !!)she also played a big part in this enthusiastic group and we hope that this group will do a lot more in future

when we first started to dream about the web site, one of the primary goals was to collate and disseminate news among rung mung about the issue affecting rung mung. Initially we started with mostly good news only. In between there was one incident where we received some info about illness of some rung. i thought it would be useful to disseminate that news thru sms network. but then majority felt that this type of minor news would not be effective use of the sms network. But in general it is human tendency to be biased towards good news and it is preferable to be carrier of good news rather than bad news.
but yesterday when i heard about passing away of Mr. Ratan Singh Raypa ji i thought that we should put this also on our news section.
Mr. Ratan Singh Raypa ji though happens to be father of my chheme but strange as it may sound i never met him in person!! he has always been in my mind as a writer of the book "Shauka" which was quite an influence on my thinking. It was a book which made me think and have at least some pointers to the history of rung mung.
With his death the family has suffered great loss and i guess it is a big loss for rung mung also. specially as i will now never be able to meet him and discuss with him about many questions i have in my head.
may god rest his soul in peace.
